Bourtange

Bourtange is a small dutch village that was restored to it's 16th century glory.  It is an open air museum that depicts how it looked in 1742.  Bourtange was built so William I of Orange could control the only road between Groningen (controlled by Spain at the time) and Germany.  It was built in a star shape and surrounded by canals.
